welcome to elements therapeutic massage
As you step through the door of any one of our therapeutic massage studios, you will be greeted warmly and welcomed into a comfortable lobby.
You will be asked to complete a short confidential intake form, which provides our trained staff with some of your general health information. This form is also helpful in determining which type of massage you need.
Important: Please inform your massage therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking prior to your massage.
Most likely, you were matched with a massage therapist when you booked your appointment, but if not, now is the time to learn about our level system. This matching system uses four levels of pressure, understanding what they mean will allow you to describe the type and pressure of massage you will want during future sessions.
- Level 1: gives a light and relaxing massage
- Level 2: gives a medium pressure massage with no specific trigger point treatment
- Level 3: gives a medium to deep pressure massage including some trigger point (commonly called knots) work
- Level 4: very deep massage including trigger point (knots) work
During Your Massage
From the lobby, your therapist will escort you to your own private therapeutic massage room. Since most of our studios have fewer than eight rooms, it's a short and quiet walk.
All of our massage rooms have dim lighting and soft soothing music playing in the background, which helps you to relax. Your therapist will then leave you to undress to your desired level of comfort and relax onto the massage table.
There will be fresh blankets and sheets provided on the table. You will remain properly draped during the entire session to keep you warm and comfortable.
Often, a light lotion or oil will be applied to allow your muscles to be massaged comfortably.
When Your Massage is Complete
When your massage is complete, your therapist will leave the room and allow you some time to get dressed. Your therapist will then provide you with water and make a professional recommendation for your return visit.
Post-Massage
After your massage, you will feel relaxed and you may feel relief from your former long-term aches and pains. For the first 24 hours after a deep tissue massage, you may feel a little sore or achy—this is a normal response due to toxins being released from your soft tissue. We recommend that you drink plenty of water following any massage. After that time, you will feel increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity.
